Being the preachers of the Feria and Fiestas de San Julián 2025 is for us, Mónica and Marta, a true pride. Cuenca is our home, our roots, and wherever we go, we carry its name with emotion, respect, and gratitude. This is how the pilots Mónica and Marta Plaza have expressed themselves, who will be the preachers of these celebrations precisely in the year in which the regional government has awarded them the Gold Medal of Castilla-La Mancha for their brilliant participation in the Rally Dakar 2024 and for their consolidation as the only female duo in the Spanish Championship.
The sisters point out that «since we were little, our parents have instilled in us the passion for motor racing, nature, and sports. That passion became our way of living both in competitions and professionally.»
Thus, Mónica Plaza began competing in 2015 and has since been present in eleven national championships, as a co-driver or as a driver in the last five years, also participating in World Cross Country and Bajas events. In addition, she has competed in four editions of the Dakar.
On the other hand, Marta Plaza has been competing as a co-driver for five years, and together they made history by becoming the first team formed by two women to win a national category of rallies. Marta has also participated in one edition of the Dakar.
«We live the motor with the same enthusiasm with which we live our city: with passion, effort, and a lot of dedication. And Cuenca, which breathes nature, sports, and authenticity, is the engine that always accompanies us,» the preachers have pointed out.
