A geolocation platform will allow access to real-time information on the processions of Holy Week in Hellín this year, starting with the Palmas procession this Sunday, the 13th, which will depart at 8:00 a.m. from the Asunción church.
This was explained by the president of the Association of Brotherhoods and Fraternities of the Holy Week in Hellín, José Rafael Marín, in statements to Europa Press, who pointed out that this is one of the novelties presented by this collective for the year 2025.
With geolocation, it will be possible to «know where the procession is at every moment», search for a complete procession, or find a specific float.
The platform, which can be accessed through a link from the Association’s website –www.semanasantahellin.es– and from its Instagram account –ach_hellin–, is intended for both the residents of Hellín and visitors, as well as for organizational purposes for the brotherhoods, security forces, or municipal entities.
The initiative, as detailed by Marín, was already launched about ten years ago but «with the means available at that time», which were «much less than what we have today», so it did not yield the «expected result» and was left «stagnant».
This year, it has been decided to resume it from the Association «both to promote the organization of the processions» on their part, and to «provide a public service for those visitors who want to access the procession» or for those who need, for example, to pick up a child from it.
In the link –which is already activated– the procession route will be seen marked on a line and, once it starts, «the logo of each brotherhood will be seen at the point on the map where it is located».
### MODIFICATIONS IN ROUTES
Apart from this, another novelty presented by this year’s Holy Week in terms of the brotherhoods is a «slight change» in the procession of Palm Sunday.
Specifically, the route will be modified, passing again through the streets Mesones and Juan Martínez Parras after «years without doing so», in order to gain about 200 meters of space.
This change was due, as explained by the president of the Association of Brotherhoods and Fraternities of Holy Week, to the fact that last year, due to «the great participation and influx» of penitents in that procession, the route «fell short for us».
«There came a moment when the Burrica float had not yet left the church area and the head of the procession was already halfway through the Rabal», causing the start to merge with the end.
Likewise, the schedule of the Resurrection Sunday procession has changed its ascent time to 12:30 p.m., to coordinate with the presence of the drums that precede it after the Encounter event, which will also take place half an hour earlier, at 10:30 a.m., so that the drummers can climb playing the drum «quietly».
### «GREAT EXPECTATIONS»
The Association of Brotherhoods and Fraternities of Holy Week in Hellín faces this year’s celebrations «with great expectations», especially to «be able to carry them out in full», considering that two processional parades could not take to the streets in 2024 due to rain, an aspect in which this year seems to be «not looking too bad at all».
In addition, as confessed by Marín, a «great influx of visitors and tourists» is expected in the municipality, joined by the entire town of Hellín, so he has issued a message of respect because «if we all respect each other, in the end, we all have a place, we can all enjoy Holy Week and thus achieve the Holy Week that Hellín wants».
Following the prelude event last weekend, led by Pascual García, which was «very well received»; and the children’s drumming and the Torchlight Way of the Cross held this Friday of Sorrows, the 30 brotherhoods of the Holy Week in Hellín are already prepared to once again walk the streets of the city.
