Almansa is getting ready to host, for the fifth consecutive year, one of the stages of the Valle del Vinalopó Interclubs Tournament. This time, the seventh day of the competition will take place on Saturday, February 22, with the start at 3:00 p.m. from Galileo Street and an estimated arrival between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The Sports Councillor, Alejandro Hernández, has emphasized the importance of this event for the city, which has become a reference point in the competition. «Thanks to the Peña Ciclista El Cacho School for continuing to trust in Almansa. We are becoming a very recognized place for these stages, with a great display of security and services thanks to Civil Protection, Local Police, Red Cross, and volunteers,» Hernández pointed out.
The councilor also reported that in the Local Security Board meeting held this Tuesday, the details of the security device were finalized to ensure the proper development of the test. He also called on citizens to take into account the traffic cuts that will occur around the start and finish of the stage.
On the other hand, Miguel Ángel Infantes, representative of Peña Ciclista El Cacho, highlighted the importance of this stage within the tournament. «It has become a classic of the Vuelta, being one of the toughest and most decisive alongside the one in Villena, which will be the last,» he explained.
Infantes also expressed gratitude for the support of the Almansa City Council and the Albacete Provincial Council, as well as the security forces and volunteers who make the race possible. He also noted that, although wind is usually a key factor in the test, forecasts indicate that it will have less impact this year.
«We invite all fans to come to the start or finish line to enjoy the spectacle. We will have several local riders who will strive for victory, especially the Yourbike team, which will compete at home with the aim of standing out,» Infantes concluded.
The stage will pass through municipalities such as Montealegre, Fuente-Álamo, La Higuera, and Bonete, before returning to Almansa, where cyclists will face the final kilometers. With an estimated participation of between 150 and 200 riders, an intense and thrilling day is expected on the Vinalopó Interclub Tournament calendar.
