Almansa City Council has announced the program of activities in commemoration of March 8, International Women’s Day, under the slogan «Together We Advance». The presentation was attended by Belén Tercero, Equality Councillor; Ana Penadés, winner of the II Commemorative Poster Contest; and Pilar Callado, Mayor of Almansa.
Tercero highlighted that the program includes activities not only promoted by the City Council and the Women’s Center, but also initiatives from political parties, unions, and associations that are part of the Local Council for Equality.
In addition, she presented the winning poster of the second municipal contest for March 8, authored by Ana Penadés.
The March 8 Poster: A Picture of Unity and Diversity
Ana Penadés, the winning poster’s author, explained that her design represents a path where women of different ages, physiognomies, and backgrounds help each other to advance. «I wanted to reflect female diversity and convey a plural and positive image,» she said. Regarding the color palette, she combined purples and lilacs, characteristic of feminism, with oranges and ochres to add warmth.
Mayor Pilar Callado highlighted the success of the poster contest, which received 42 proposals from participants in Almansa and other locations such as Pontevedra, Guadalajara, Pamplona, Toledo, and Cantabria.
Callado concluded her remarks by thanking all associations, unions, and groups for their involvement in organizing this extensive program of activities.
