The Plenary approves the new plaza of about 1,800 m² in the extension of Buencuceso
The Valdepeñas City Council’s plenary session for the month of May has given the green light to the urbanization program for the extension of Buensuceso Street, which runs between Correderas, Bataneros, Huerto Street, and Avenida del Vino, allowing for the urban development of the area and the creation of a green area of around 1,800 square meters.
Mayor Jesús Martín explained during the plenary session that the opening of Buensuceso Street will facilitate the road decongestion of Bataneros Street, with a new boulevard between Buensuceso and 1st of July Avenue, allowing for the expansion of the playground of the Lorenzo Medina public school, whose works are already underway.
«With this definitive approval, Valdepeñas will gain a new public space, around 1,800 square meters in what would be in front of the Manteo de Sancho roundabout, which has opened up this area,» said the mayor, emphasizing that «with this definitive approval, in the coming months, we will see a new public square that will go from the opening we have made from Buensuceso Street to Correderas Street.»
This action, which seeks the «urban quality» of the area, was approved by an absolute majority, with votes in favor of the PSOE, Vox, Unidas Por Valdepeñas, and the abstention of the PP and the non-affiliated councilor. It will allocate about 1,500 square meters for the new road, nearly 1,800 for the creation of the new square, the expansion of the schoolyard with 419 square meters, and the creation of 25 surface parking spaces and 176 private parking spaces.
Fluvial Park
The plenary session also approved a point for the owners of the expropriated lands for the creation of the fluvial park to propose their prices to reach a mutual agreement between the parties. The fluvial park is a large-scale project that aims to continue the Storm Plan of the municipality from the El Hierro Bridge to the ring road and from the ring road to the mouth of the Veguilla in the Jabalón River.
This action, which will involve a million-dollar investment from several administrations and works that will last at least about 5 years, will have a length of about 2.5 kilometers. To carry out its execution, the expropriation of 41,000 square meters, belonging to 50 estates of 38 owners, has been necessary, as well as temporary occupation while the works of 75,000 square meters of 20 estates are carried out.
Among other points, it is also worth noting a motion from the PP on urban lighting that was unanimously approved. The Government team has commissioned a technical report to study the improvement of urban lighting, which must reconcile three aspects that go beyond individual preferences, as Government spokesman Francisco Delgado has advanced, which are «cost, energy savings, and light pollution.»
Additionally, during the Plenary, the periodic financial information and the quarterly arrears report were presented.
