Aumenta la vigilancia en Guadalajara por crecida del río Henares

The City Council of Guadalajara reports that the flow of the Henares River has reached the red level, due to the increase in flow as a result of the release from the Beleña dam and the rains recorded in the last hours.

According to a press release, since the moment it receives communication that the release is going to occur, yesterday afternoon, it has been carrying out a rigorous and coordinated monitoring by the Local Police and Civil Protection, as well as with the Municipal Infrastructure Service, delimiting and controlling the areas where citizens must take extreme precautions.

Likewise, monitoring of the riverbank is being carried out through drones operated by the Local Police.

In the coming days, as a result of the foreseeable release from the Alcorlo dam and the new precipitations announced throughout the week, surveillance and security measures will be increased, especially in the most critical points near the Henares River.

From the North Ring Road to Manantiales, there will be a permanent presence of Local Police and Civil Protection.

RESTRICTIONS AND PROHIBITIONS

In light of this situation, the City Council maintains pedestrian access restrictions on the banks of the Henares River, some of them flooded, preventing access to the areas closest to the river and with the highest risk for the population. These areas are delimited and access to them is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.

So far, vehicle traffic has not been affected, so circulation continues without restrictions. Additionally, as a preventive measure considering the rains expected in the coming days, parks and gardens remain closed.

The City Council reminds that pedestrian access to the banks of the Henares River is prohibited in the areas marked by the Local Police, and that parks and gardens remain closed as a preventive measure. The underground passage of the A-2 on Trafalgar Street is also closed.

RED LEVEL

Regarding this red level, the City Council of Guadalajara conveys a message of reassurance to the citizens, as all necessary preventive and security measures are being applied to prevent risks, and continuous and permanent surveillance is maintained in the face of any release, rains, and possible variations in the river flow as it passes through Guadalajara.

The City Council urges citizens not to access the restricted areas near the banks of the Henares River, to follow the instructions of emergency services at all times, and to take precautions to ensure public safety.

In case of any emergency, it is advised to call 112 for Emergencies and 092 for Local Police. The local operation remains on alert and will continue to provide information on any changes in the situation through the official channels of the Guadalajara City Council.
