Despite the cold and constant threat of rain, the National Carnival Parade of Tomelloso has lived up to expectations. 15 out of the 16 registered groups and associations have gathered in the city this Carnival Saturday to participate in a parade that has taken place entirely along Don Antonio Huertas avenue, as has been customary in recent years. The one and a half kilometers of this street were packed with spectators eager to enjoy this second parade following yesterday’s musical bands procession. The participants have filled the avenue with color, music, and vibrant rhythms, showcasing allegories of fantasy stories such as Narnia, The Jungle Book, Wonderland, or Swords and Crowns. There were also references to universal games like chess or Clue, the oceanic world, falconry, the golden age of literature, and mining, among many other fantasies.
The group El Burleta, from Campo de Criptana, with their theme “Wonderland”, has won the first prize in the Floats category, which comes with a prize of €3,200. The jury’s deliberation was very close, and the second prize, with a value of €2,200, went to Los Imprevistos from Argamasilla de Alba with their theme «Golden Age». The third prize, worth €1,700, also went to Argamasilla, to the association «La Causalidad» for Oceania, and the fourth prize, with a value of €1,200, was awarded to «El Cencerro» from Daimiel for their display «Mysteries of the deep sea.»
In the Comparsas category, the first prize, with a value of €1,500, was awarded to the Attitude Dance School from Campo de Criptana. The following winners, in order, were «Déjame que te cuente» from Villafranca, Los Bartoleros from Campo de Criptana, Meraki Soul from Puertollano, and Las Peñuelas from Pozuelo de Calatrava.
There were 1,500 participants and 15 associations and groups from all over the region took part in this grand carnival parade in Tomelloso. The parade was broadcast live on the regional television channel CMM.
