Castilla-La Mancha has seen a 2.5 percent increase in the number of births and a 3.1% increase in deaths in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to the monthly estimation of births and deaths by the INE for the month of December.

A total of 14,420 births and 19,931 deaths were recorded in this Autonomous Community throughout the year 2024.

Births have decreased by 24.7% in Spain between 2024 and 2014, although in the last year they have experienced a slight increase, breaking the trend of the last decade, according to the monthly estimation of births and deaths by the INE for the month of December.

It is provisionally estimated that there were a total of 322,034 births in Spain during 2024, representing a 0.4% increase compared to the previous year (1,378 more births).

Additionally, in recent years, the decline in the number of births has been accompanied by a delay in the age of motherhood. An indicator reflecting this delay, according to the INE, is the number of births to mothers aged 40 or older, which has grown by 8.5% in the last 10 years.

Relatively speaking, while in 2014, 7.2% of births were to mothers aged 40 or older, in 2024 this percentage increased to 10.4%. In 2014, the number of mothers under 25 years old was 427,595, compared to 322,034 in the past year.

In terms of age and gender, the greatest relative decrease in deaths was observed in individuals aged between five and 29 years in men (-6.1% compared to 2023), and in women aged 85 to 89 years (-6.0%).
