El Ayuntamiento de Almansa mejora la accesibilidad del Parque de los Coloma con una nueva rampa de acceso

Almansa’s mayor, Pilar Callado, accompanied by the councilor of Works and Services, Matilde Cuenca, has presented the new access ramp that connects the upper part of Parque de los Coloma with the central moat, an intervention that meets a demand and significantly improves the accessibility of the environment.

Callado has pointed out that this action «was very important and very necessary,» as until now people with reduced mobility could not access the center of the park. «A person in a wheelchair or with a walker could not go down to the moat,» she explained.

The mayor emphasized that this architectural barrier prevented full participation in cultural activities organized by the council in the park, such as concerts, plays, neighborhood parties, or summer cinema. «Many times, these people had to stay in the upper part, unable to enjoy the events from the center of the park,» she lamented.

The work has been carried out entirely with the council’s own resources from the Works and Services department, without the need to hire any external company. «I want to thank the technical team and the municipal staff. They have done a very well-executed work and fully compliant with regulations,» highlighted Callado, who also recognized the involvement of councilor Cuenca.

This new ramp adds to other accessibility interventions promoted by the current government team. Callado recalled that the City Council already carried out the adaptation of the access to the garden of Casa Grande, which until recently had physical barriers that prevented access for people with reduced mobility. In the same vein, the City Council has relocated several municipal services from inaccessible dependencies of the municipal building to facilities such as the Lonja, fully adapted, thus facilitating attention to all citizens on equal terms. Likewise, significant improvements have been made at the Fairground to ensure accessibility in all its plots during the fair, and a ramp has been installed to access the stage, a particularly relevant measure during commemorative events such as Disability Day, ensuring that all people can actively participate in public events.
