El Centro Municipal de Mayores del Lucero ha aumentado un 25% su cantidad de socios en la última década.

The Centro Municipal de Mayores del Lucero de Valdepeñas celebrated its longevity on Monday with a festive event to mark its 18th anniversary. The center, which has nearly 2,500 members, has seen a 25% increase in the past 10 years.

María del Mar Marqués, the Councilor for Social Services, emphasized the center’s bustling activity, with over 100 daily visitors and 25 workshops currently running. She encouraged individuals aged 60 and above to join, highlighting the center as a vibrant and active community where their needs can be met.

The event was attended by Vanessa Irla, the Deputy Mayor for Social Services, and Domingo Pliego, the center’s president, who praised the various activities organized throughout the year to promote active aging. The center offers workshops in sound therapy, yoga, creative writing, occupational therapy, as well as the «Active and Senior» workshop, the «Pen and Paper» reading club, among others, in addition to services such as dining, hairdressing, and podiatry.

The celebration of the 18th anniversary of the Centro Municipal de Mayores del Lucero featured a showcase of talents by center users and a parade of crochet umbrellas.
