The Ministry of Culture has activated damage assessment teams and mechanisms to begin the reconstruction of the Roman bridge of Talavera de la Reina, due to the overflow of the Tajo River this Saturday.
This was announced on Sunday by the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, in a post on the Bluesky social network. «The storm has taken part of the Roman bridge of Talavera de la Reina. From the Ministry of Culture, we have already activated damage assessment teams and mechanisms to begin the reconstruction of an invaluable heritage,» he said.
Hours earlier, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, also showed solidarity with the citizens of Talavera de la Reina and offered the government’s help for its reconstruction.
«My solidarity with all the citizens of Talavera de la Reina after the rupture of a symbol of the city,» the president wrote on his X account this Sunday.
In addition, Sánchez offered the help of his government to rebuild the collapsed part of the Roman bridge, the oldest in the city.
