The Cultural Center ‘La Confianza’ hosts the thematic exhibition in celebration of the Canonical Coronation and the 300 years of the image of María Santísima de la Palma, Reina de los Mártires, inaugurated by the mayor of Valdepeñas, Jesús Martín, accompanied by the deputy mayor of Culture, Vanessa Irla, and the councilor of Brotherhoods, Paqui Madrid.
Titled ‘Palma, Mother and Queen. 300 years’, this exhibition, organized by the Brotherhood of Misericordia and Palma in collaboration with the Culture department, showcases the coronation mantle for the procession, embroidered and crafted over the past two years in honor of the Canonical Coronation of the Virgin’s image.
During his speech, Jesús Martín emphasized the multidisciplinary nature of Holy Week, highlighting the social, artistic, charitable, and religious activities of the brotherhood. He underscored the years of dedication and the spirituality of the people, whether believers or not, required to achieve such a coronation. Martín also expressed that while one can live without faith, hope is indispensable.
The exhibition, open from July 2 to 11, offers visitors a chance to explore part of the image’s attire and artistic heritage, as well as a historical insight into the city’s oldest virgin. The new procession mantle, embroidered at the workshop of the Hermanas Rama in Seville, stands out for its asymmetry, designed to create a significant impact. The Brotherhood’s Head, Jesús Caminero, explained the unique characteristics of the new mantle.
The event also featured a conference titled ‘History of an Image’, delivered by José Ángel Simón López-Trompo.
The entry ‘La Confianza hosts the 300th anniversary exhibition ‘Palma, Mother and Queen» was first published on the Valdepeñas City Council website.
