The cultural carnival association Harúspices de Tomelloso and Meraky Soul de Puertollano have won the ‘Vid de Oro’ in the XLIII Regional Floats and Carnival Groups Contest of Valdepeñas. Harúspices de Tomelloso impressed the jury in the float with group category with their spectacular ‘Around the World’ theme, while Meraky Soul de Puertollano won in the group without float category with their proposal ‘Mining Soul’.
The parade, organized by the Valdepeñas City Council, featured participants from various regions showcasing diverse costumes and impressive floats. Harúspices de Tomelloso took home the first prize of 3,000 euros and the ‘Vid de Oro’ trophy. El Biberón de Membrilla secured the second position with their theme ‘Granada Dream’, earning a cash prize of 2,250 euros. La Casualidad de Argamasilla de Alba received the third prize of 1,250 euros for ‘Oceania’, and Reino desvarío de Torre de Juan Abada won the fourth prize of 850 euros for ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The fifth prize of 600 euros went to Redacción Marchosa for ‘Lucky 40’.
In the group without float category, Meraky Soul de Puertollano claimed the first prize of 1,800 euros and the ‘Vid de Oro’ with ‘Mining Soul’. The second prize of 1,000 euros went to Asociación Juvenil Huríes de Quintanar de la Orden for ‘Dream Stitch’. The third prize of 750 euros was awarded to Escuela de María Mota de Quintanar de la Orden for their tribute to ‘Historical Women’. Dance By Company de Alcázar de San Juan received the fourth prize of 500 euros for ‘The Anthill’, and Las Musas de Socuéllamos won the fifth prize of 350 euros for ‘Disco Studio 54’.
Additionally, a new competition was introduced this year to recognize local carnival groups. Redacción Marchosa received the first prize of 300 euros, while Asmuva Producciones was awarded the second prize of 150 euros for ‘Crown Rolls’.
The parade, which featured over twenty groups from various towns like Puertollano, Quintanar de la Orden, Socuéllamos, Valdepeñas, and others, showcased themes like pioneering women, the jungle book, time travel, Amazonia, the circus, and the dream of Granada.
All participating groups received a ham courtesy of the Frimancha meat group as a token of appreciation.
