The National Police will inspect the area of Carranque (Toledo) with agents from the Technical Inspection Operational Group (GOIT) and canine guides where the mortal remains of Heidy Paz, the young woman murdered in August 2018 by César Román, could be located, as reported by police sources to Europa Press.
After revealing new data about its location, agents moved to this area yesterday to delimit it. However, the inspection is waiting for improved weather conditions and will be carried out officially to rule out what was stated in a letter by the individual known as ‘El Rey del Cachopo’.
Yesterday, the Provincial Court of Madrid requested Roman’s defense to inform the police authority of the new data provided regarding the whereabouts of his victim. In a resolution, obtained by Europa Press, the judges responded to the letter sent to the jury trial court and declared their incompetence as the Court only has the capacity to execute the sentence that convicted him.
Thus, they instructed his legal representation to inform the police authority of the new data, which is «an incompatible version» with what was established during the trial for the homicide and aimed at «gaining notoriety» in the media.
HIS UNCLE DISMEMBERED HER
In a written statement, the murderer revealed a few days ago that it was not him who dismembered her, but rather a deceased uncle of his who was a forensic doctor and whom he consulted when he realized she had died in one of his warehouses located in the Usera district.
A year ago, Román confessed for the first time to the murder of Heidy Paz, whose torso was found in one of the businessman’s warehouses located in Usera. Through a letter, he apologized to the family.
In the letter, he recounted that Heidy’s death occurred «during an absurd argument» over financial matters in the warehouse where the suitcase containing her torso was found. According to his version, the woman grabbed a gun and in the attempt to take it from her, «the gun fatally fired, causing instant death as that disastrous and single shot hit her head, without an exit hole.»
He then expressed his desire to inform about the location of the remains not found so that the victims can put an end to their pain, indicating that he contacted his deceased uncle after confirming that his partner had died based on his medical knowledge.
«We made the tremendously wrong and erroneous decision to hide what happened, getting rid of the gun and the body, agreeing that it would be Miguel who would do it, while I simulated as normal a life as possible,» he admitted.
IN A TOLEDO LANDSCAPE
They both agreed to bury her in a location in the municipality of Carranque, in the province of Toledo, where Miguel was originally from, and a place they had known together since childhood.
«The location is popularly known as Las Cárcavas, near the archaeological park, before crossing the bridge over the Guadarrama River, in an area formed by small mountains located about 500 meters from the parking lot, in front of the picnic area, to the left of the bridge, the fountain, and the dry stream,» he detailed.
However, he pointed out that he does not know the exact location as he did not accompany them. The letter was accompanied by a map of the area and the location, as he remembers it, to «facilitate its location and offer to provide any details I know and that they consider necessary for the location.»
«I sincerely apologize to Heidy’s family for this behavior, and with this explanation, I do not want to diminish my responsibility in the slightest, which I fully accept with all its consequences,» he added.
In December 2022, the Supreme Court upheld the 15-year sentence imposed for the murder of his partner by endorsing the DNA report that confirmed that the torso found in one of his warehouses belonged to his partner.
The Court found it proven that César killed Heidi in the early hours of August 5, 2018, in the apartment he had rented on Lopez Grass Street in the Vallecas district. Until now, the businessman claimed that behind the murder was a police mafia and that his ex-partner was involved in drug trafficking, a version he now denies.
