The XIV Provincial Congress of the PSOE in Toledo has started this Saturday, under the motto ‘With strength to win’, with the participation of more than 500 people including delegates, observers, and guests, with the presence of representatives from the union, business, and social sectors of the province of Toledo. The congress is aimed at renewing the organization’s bodies in the province through the election of the Provincial Executive Committee and the representatives in the Ethics Committee and the Regional and Federal Committees.
Álvaro Gutiérrez will reaffirm his position as the Secretary General of the PSOE in the province of Toledo, being the only candidate for the position of Socialist General Secretary. His speech will close the 14th Provincial Congress this afternoon.
The Congress was inaugurated by the Secretary General of the PSOE in Castilla-La Mancha, Sergio Gutiérrez, with speeches by the Secretary of Organization of the PSOE in Castilla-La Mancha, Félix Ortega; the Secretary General of CCOO in Toledo, Federico Pérez; and the Secretary of Organization of UGT Castilla-La Mancha, Silvia López.
Gutiérrez praised the actions of the PSOE in the province and in Castilla-La Mancha, highlighting them as an example of social policies compared to the regional governments of other regions.
«While Ayuso in the Community of Madrid reduces taxes for the highest earners, the wealthiest individuals, or those who inherit the most, in Castilla-La Mancha we reduce taxes for those who move to live in rural areas or for those who establish businesses in the smallest towns,» declared the organization’s secretary during the Congress opening. «Here in Castilla-La Mancha, we announce the first law against the gender pay gap in all of Spain, in all autonomous communities, and also among the first in all of Europe.»
Gutiérrez stated that Castilla-La Mancha has gone «in just a few years from being the last autonomous community, under Cospedal for example, to implement dependency, to just a month ago the National Observatory for Dependency in all of Spain, which brings together all independent professionals in dependency, awarded Castilla-La Mancha the gold for the best management of public services and dependency.»
«We manage the economy better, create more and better jobs, manage public services better. And allow me to say it loud and clear, we are more honest,» he affirmed.
The inauguration of the Congress also saw the presence of the president of Down Toledo, Trinidad Escobar; the president of CSIF Toledo, Raúl Turín; and the president of the Progressive Association of Toledo, Nuria Cuevas.
The day started with the establishment of the Board of the 14th Provincial Congress of the PSOE, presided over by Rodrigo Moreno, with Rosi Quirós and Cristina Encinas by his side. The opening was also attended by the Government Delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón; the Minister of Finance, Public Administrations, and Digital Transformation, Juan Alfonso Ruiz Molina; and the Minister of Sustainable Development, Mercedes Gómez.
Also present were delegates from the Government of Castilla-La Mancha in the province of Toledo; deputies from the regional courts; and deputies from the Provincial Council of Toledo.
