Lo impulsa la FUE junto al CIFP Aguas Nuevas de Albacete y el IES Barajas de Madrid
Fundación Universidad-Empresa (FUE), in collaboration with IES ‘Barajas’ in Madrid and CIFP ‘Aguas Nuevas’ in Albacete, has launched the ‘Despega Vocaciones’ project, subsidized by the Ministry of Education, to promote STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in Vocational Training among female students in ESO and Bachillerato.
More than 400 female students from third and fourth year of ESO and Bachillerato in Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha are participating in orientation activities from March of this year until June-July 2026, as reported in a joint statement this Tuesday.
Over 20 online seminars, face-to-face tutoring for students and families, visits to companies, and open days at educational centers are planned, with activities led by «female role models», students, and former students in these technical specialties.
The two Vocational Training centers will carry out the identification of potential female students, relevant areas of knowledge, selecting female role models, as well as hosting visits and open days.
QUE ELLAS «SE ATREVAN A IMAGINARSE»
The general director of FUE, Carmen Palomino, has highlighted that decisions in adolescence have a great impact on future careers, therefore considering it crucial to make visible educational and career options that many girls do not consider: «We want them to dare to imagine themselves in those places».
The head of studies at IES ‘Barajas’, Tomás Díaz Corcobado, has explained that their center will focus especially on increasing female enrollment in industrial field cycles, where currently female students are a minority.
The director of CIFP ‘Aguas Nuevas’, Juan José González Cifuentes, has stated that they are «committed to increasing female presence» in their technical education, a key objective in our annual program.
