Reelección de Enrique Alarcón como presidente de Cocemfe en Asamblea General Extraordinaria en Albacete

The Confederation of entities of people with physical and organic disabilities in Castilla-La Mancha (CLM Inclusive Cocemfe) held its Extraordinary General Assembly in Albacete on Wednesday, where Enrique Alarcón was re-elected as president.

The assembly was attended by political and institutional representatives such as the Councilor for Quality of Life of Albacete, Llanos Navarro; the spokesperson for Vox in the Provincial Council and City Council of Albacete, Lorena González; the councilor and Provincial Deputy for Social Services, José González Martínez; the regional deputy for Vox, Francisco Cobo Navarro, and the spokesperson for the Socialist Municipal Group in the capital of Albacete, Amparo Torres Valencoso, according to Cocemfe’s press release.

During his speech, Enrique Alarcón expressed his gratitude to the associative movement for their efforts, struggle, and ability to share criteria and unite consensus for societal progress. He emphasized the importance of political involvement in such initiatives, stating that their presence highlights their work and strengthens them.

He also highlighted the need to address the fact that over 30% of people with disabilities and their families still live in poverty, calling on all social and political actors to take action. While acknowledging the efforts of public administrations, Alarcón urged for continued and increased efforts, affirming the readiness of the associative fabric to do whatever is necessary.

Regarding accessibility, a new Accessibility Service has been approved for this term. Alarcón announced plans to launch a resource within Castilla-La Mancha Inclusive to strengthen care services and ensure accessibility for all in need. Additionally, a support service for provincial governments, municipalities, and local entities is envisioned to progress together towards this common goal.

Alarcón emphasized that entities within the associative movement serve as a link of dignity between the political world and society, with a clear social responsibility to normalize accessibility, employment access, education, and culture. He encouraged entities to continue being a social conscience to meet the real needs of people with disabilities and their families.

In closing, Alarcón praised the immense effort and dedication of all organizations within Castilla-La Mancha Inclusive Cocemfe, highlighting their role in defending the rights of people with disabilities.

## ORDINARY ASSEMBLY

Prior to the Extraordinary Assembly, the Ordinary Assembly was held with delegates and representatives from partner entities: Cocemfe Albacete, Cocemfe Guadalajara, Cocemfe Toledo, Cocemfe Cuenca, and Ciudad Real Inclusiva, as well as regional entities like Afanion, LUNA, Aidiscam Castilla-La Mancha, and the national association Amiab. The Assembly unanimously approved the 2024 Annual Report, the 2024 accounts, the 2025 Activity Program, and the 2025 Budget.

## SUPPORT FROM THE CITY COUNCIL OF ALBACETE

Llanos Navarro spoke at the closing ceremony, congratulating Enrique Alarcón on his re-election and recognizing his tireless work for people with physical and organic disabilities in the region. She affirmed the City Council’s full commitment to making Albacete an accessible city for all individuals with disabilities and mobility issues, with the Universal Accessibility Plan aiming for a barrier-free future. Navarro also highlighted the significance of the City Council’s Accessibility Office, managed by Cocemfe through an annual agreement, as a space for participation, advocacy, and improvement proposals in accessibility. The office has developed the Guide to Good Practices in Universal Accessibility and is currently working on the Guide to Accessibility for Public Buildings.
