The Almansa City Council has presented the new tourist activities developed in the surroundings of the Pantano, an ambitious intervention funded through the Tourism Sustainability Plan. Coinciding with the beginning of Holy Week, the improvements are now available for visitors and residents.
The project involved a comprehensive renewal of informational signage, the implementation of interactive and virtual routes, and the incorporation of an augmented reality system to enhance the experience of those visiting the natural area.
During the press conference, the mayor expressed special thanks for the involvement of local companies Carto Almansa and Rotulaciones Sober, responsible for the technical and graphic development of the project: «We have worked with local companies that not only know the environment but have perfectly captured what we wanted to convey with this renewal,» she noted.
Three lines of innovation for an immersive experience
Antonio Clemente, representing Carto Almansa, explained that the project was structured around three main axes:
– Interactive Maps: accessible from the website, allow users to explore all the tourist routes of the reservoir with features such as geolocation, terrain profiles, virtual panels, explanatory audios, and download for offline use or on platforms such as Wikiloc and Google Earth.
– Virtual Visits: the first ring of the reservoir has been scanned using 360º technology, generating a navigable digital recreation from home. Thanks to a cloud of millions of points, anyone can explore the environment in a virtual and detailed way.
– Augmented Reality: available only at the reservoir, this feature allows visitors, through their mobile devices, to receive real-time contextual information when looking at different elements of the landscape. An innovative way to interpret the territory while physically exploring it.
More than 50 new panels and updated signage
Jesús Bernal, from Rotulaciones Sober, explained the redesign and production of over 50 new informational panels installed throughout the area. «They are completely new illustrations, made with durable materials that will last between 7 and 8 years. I have toured the entire reservoir, and I assure you that the result is spectacular,» he affirmed.
The mayor concluded the event by emphasizing that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the value of the Almansa Reservoir: «We want visitors to not only find a unique natural area but also services and tools that make it even more attractive. And they can stay, spend the night, and fully enjoy it.» Among the upcoming steps are works at the Casa del Llavero and the hostel, as well as other upcoming announcements.
