El alcalde de Cuenca, Darío Dolz, y el presidente de la Diputación, Álvaro Martínez Chana, han renovado el convenio para la atención de los bomberos municipales en la zona de la Serranía y la Alcarria. El acuerdo cuenta con una financiación de 250.000 euros y tiene una duración de tres años.
Durante la firma del convenio, estuvieron presentes la concejala de Seguridad Ciudadana, Saray Portillo, y el diputado de Extinción de Incendios y Emergencias, Rodrigo Molina. Martínez Chana explicó que con esta renovación se brindará atención a 106 núcleos de población y 75 ayuntamientos, sumando tres nuevos municipios: Olmeda de la Cuesta, Pineda de Gigüela y Torrejoncillo del Rey.
El alcalde Darío Dolz resaltó la importancia de este convenio para la capital, ya que permite contar con recursos adicionales cuando los bomberos municipales deben actuar en la provincia, evitando que la ciudad quede desatendida. Dolz destacó el logro de normalizar las relaciones entre ambas instituciones en este ámbito, recordando que durante una década no se pudo firmar este convenio. Lamentó la abstención del Partido Popular en el Ayuntamiento y su voto en contra en la Diputación.
Por su parte, el presidente de la Diputación, Álvaro Martínez Chana, destacó que más de 16.200 personas en la provincia se beneficiarán de tiempos de respuesta mejorados ante emergencias. Subrayó que la importancia del convenio va más allá de las cifras económicas, ya que se trata de seguridad y vidas humanas. Martínez Chana mencionó que la duración del acuerdo está condicionada a la puesta en marcha de nuevos parques en Cañete y Priego.
En las próximas semanas se licitará el mobiliario de ambas instalaciones por más de 500.000 euros. Además, este año se iniciarán los procesos selectivos para la contratación de personal, con un mínimo de 40 nuevos bomberos. Martínez Chana resaltó que esto representará un avance importante para el Servicio Provincial de Bomberos.
