Solidarity football match preCorpus organized by Europa Press gathers politicians, journalists, and cultural agents in Toledo

Eurocaja Rural, San Telesforo, and Cervezas La Sagra will join forces with the Junta, Diputación, and City Council for the benefit of Ademto

The Castilian-Manchego delegation of the Europa Press news agency, in collaboration with the City Council of Toledo, the Diputación of Toledo, and the Junta de Comunidades of Castilla-La Mancha, is organizing a new charity football tournament prior to the Corpus Christi celebration. The teams will be formed by journalists, politicians, press office journalists, and representatives of the cultural society of Toledo.

This event will take place on Tuesday, the 10th, at the fields of the Escuela de Gimnasia de Toledo, provided by the City Council for the occasion. The kick-off is set for 8:00 pm with doors opening at 7:00 pm, and admission is free.

After a successful first edition last year where a thousand kilograms of food were collected and donated to Socorro de los Pobres, this year there is a format change. Public institutions will contribute a monetary amount to the cause.

«The Diputación will be there supporting you on June 10th in this charity match where we will once again collaborate with you and the charitable cause in the final contribution,» said the third vice president of the Diputación of Toledo, Joaquín Romera.

SOLIDARITY SPONSORSHIP

Eurocaja Rural will participate by providing uniforms for the four teams participating in the tournament and making a financial contribution. Similarly, San Telesforo and Cervezas La Sagra will be sponsors of the event.

The president of Eurocaja Rural, Javier López, has once again shown the support of the entity to the initiative: «Eurocaja Rural is participating in a tournament that aims for the best sports and charitable outcome,» he said, emphasizing the exceptional camaraderie between journalists and politicians in Toledo, as seen on the field. «Their unity will help in the fight against multiple sclerosis, hopefully with great success.»

Furthermore, a cart of solidarity ice creams will be set up by the marzipan brand for attendees to make a financial contribution while enjoying the match, as mentioned by the manager of San Telesforo, Juan Manuel Albelda.

«For us, who have been living in Toledo for 218 years, participating in any social event is wonderful. But if it’s a charitable event where we can help a fantastic cause, it’s a luxury for us,» celebrated Albelda.

On the other hand, the Toledo-based beer brand will also showcase its products, including gluten-free and alcohol-free options. Both products will have a symbolic price of one euro, and the total proceeds will be added to the cause.

«We offer our beer to help finance the projects that Ademto has, and it is a pleasure for us to collaborate in this organization and project,» said the CEO of Cerveza La Sagra, Carlos García.

ADEMTO, BENEFICIARY ENTITY

This year, the beneficiary will be the Association of Multiple Sclerosis of Toledo (Ademto), a Public Utility entity that brings together people affected by multiple sclerosis, their families, and individuals sensitized to this disease.

With nearly 30 years of activity since its founding by Julián Ludeña, it operates at the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Diseases Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart since July 2011, when it was granted a license by the Provincial Delegation of the Health and Social Welfare Department as a Health Center.

It was the first NGO based in Castilla-La Mancha to receive the seal of the Fundación Lealtad, establishing itself as an entity committed to transparency and good management practices. This distinction provides clarity and an extra level of confidence to donors, accrediting their efforts in the areas where they have experience.

«We treat people with neurological diseases who need continuous rehabilitation throughout their lives, so any help to sustain us and improve their quality of life is essential,» recognized the manager of Ademto, Alicia Martínez.

FOUR TEAMS, ONLY ONE WINNER

After the journalists’ well-deserved victory last year, four teams are gearing up for the symbolic tournament this year.

The «juntaletras» team, composed of representatives from all media outlets in Toledo, will defend their title. Directors from COPE and SER, Juan Sevilla and Félix Amaya; David Romero and Sara Acero from encastillalamancha; representatives from the Public Entity Radio Televisión Castilla-La Mancha like Jesús Espada or Alfonso Mora; Rafa Riesco from the Agencia EFE; María Izquierdo or Patricia Hernández from Europa Press; Nuria López and Ana Villajos from Radio Televisión Española; or the eternal Antonio González Jerez, former director of ABC.

The politicians’ team will once again feature stars from last year such as Socialist deputies Isabel Abengózar and Ángel Tomás Godoy; the mayor of Seseña, Jaime de Hita; the Minister of Development, Nacho Hernando; the Vox councilor in the regional capital Daniel Morcillo or the mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez; but this year they have also signed up other figures like the president of the Diputación of Ciudad Real, Miguel Ángel Valverde; the leader of Izquierda Unida in the region, Pedro Mellado, or the mayor of La Guardia, Marta Maroto.

The third battalion will once again be made up of journalists working in press offices. The press officer of Sumar, José Luis Resuela; the General Director of Communication of the regional Government, Sara Burgos; Natalia Guadamillas from the Socialist Group in the City Council of Toledo; Andrés España and Edu de Diego from Vox Toledo; or Mario Gómez from the Diputación, led once again by María Carrobles from the Mayor’s office, will try to prevail on the field.

This year, a fourth team will be included in the competition, made up of representatives from the cultural scene of Toledo. The dancer and actress, also a journalist, Ana Molina; comedians Jesús Arenas and Agustín Durán; María José Avilés and Jaime García from the band The Gagarins; Mauri, DJs Yoikol and Bita, or the bullfighter Esaú Fernández will form a lineup that will also compete.

The Journalists’ team will face off against the Politicians in the first semifinal; while in the second round, the Press Office Journalists and the representatives of the Toledo cultural scene will vie for a spot in the final.

Both matches will kick off at 8:00 pm and will have a duration of 30 minutes. The winners will compete in the grand final starting at 8:45 pm, and the two teams eliminated along the way will battle in a simultaneous match to avoid finishing in last place.
