The Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the Provincial Council of Albacete, and the City Council of Molinicos shared the spotlight on Tuesday during the presentation of the VIII edition of the ‘Música en los Rincones’ Festival, held at the Casa Perona press room in Albacete.
These three institutions, along with other private collaborations, are the main supporters of a festival that, «in just eight years, has managed to establish itself in the cultural scene of the province, mainly for its essence.»
This was expressed by the delegate of the Junta, Pedro Antonio Ruiz Santos, who highlighted that in this edition, taking place from August 1 to 3, «there will be 17 corners of Molinicos where music will be present, thanks to the twenty participating artists.»
«It is a pride, from the regional government, to be able to participate in this event, not only in an institutional support role, giving it the corresponding diffusion but also through an economic contribution that helps the City Council of Molinicos to cover part of the significant cost of such a festival,» pointed out the delegate.
Likewise, Ruiz Santos recognized the nearly 800 volunteers who dedicate themselves to decorating the streets during the festival, beautifying an event that last year welcomed over 4,500 visitors, as reported by the Junta in a press release.
MUCH MORE THAN A FESTIVAL
On the other hand, the provincial Tourism delegate, Raquel Ruiz, emphasized that ‘Música en los Rincones’ is much more than a festival. It is «an example of what a town can achieve when all its people are truly involved,» she said, highlighting the work of the mayor, Lola Serrano, and the involvement of the residents of Molinicos, «whose collaboration is essential to carry out an event that is already a cultural reference in the province and has managed to make a name for itself even at a national level.»
Ruiz explained that these initiatives fit perfectly with the commitment that the Provincial Council of Albacete makes to sustainable rural development, reinforcing the identity of towns, promoting quality tourism, and enhancing the role of culture as an economic driver. In this sense, she recalled that the Council doubled its financial support for the festival in 2024 and maintains that backing in 2025, «because we deeply believe in projects that highlight the resources and soul of our territory.»
The delegate encouraged the entire population to visit Molinicos on August 1, 2, and 3 and discover the magic of an event that turns every corner of the town into a stage and a showcase of everything the Sierra del Segura has to offer. «Events like this are the best promotion we can do for our towns and our territory,» she concluded.
HUMBLE FESTIVAL, BUT WITH ESSENCE
The mayor of Molinicos, Lola Serrano, was in charge of closing the round of speeches, placing the ‘Música en los Rincones’ festival on the same level as others in the province like Los Sentidos, Viña Rock, or Antorchas, «although much more humble and with an essence that makes it very different,» clarified the mayor.
In this sense, Serrano highlighted the format that characterizes this musical event, which «allows singer-songwriters and soloists to perform simultaneously on the streets of the town.» «Each year we have more quantity and diversity of musical styles, combining local, provincial, national, and international artists,» she added.
As the mayor pointed out, there are four essential elements in the festival: music, landscape and surroundings, gastronomy, and decoration. Regarding the latter, Serrano acknowledged the effort of the residents, «who are increasing in number,» to decorate the festival route.
Next, the mayor of Molinicos announced the novelties of the eighth edition of ‘Música en los Rincones’, which «for the first time will offer activities for children, as well as a play area service.»
«Another novelty is that the route will be open all day, even if the performances do not start until ten at night, so that visitors can admire the beautiful decoration of it; also, a violet point will be set up to address any type of sexual violence against women, and solidarity bracelets will be sold for one euro, with the proceeds going to help the City Council of Letur,» she reported.
Serrano concluded by thanking the support provided by institutions and sponsors, which has allowed ‘Música en los Rincones’ to remain a free festival so far, and whose consolidation is helping to increase tourism in the area.
