Valdepeñas has had investments totaling 32,939,000 euros over the past two years of the legislature, as highlighted by the mayor of the city during the mid-term review of the legislature, where he also emphasized the creation of public spaces, the number of services provided to citizens, and the low unemployment rate, which stands at 10%.
The municipal mayor emphasized the overall investment of 33,000,000 euros, which has meant a significant investment in Valdepeñas during each of those months. «In Valdepeñas, this administration has been able to manage and bring in money worth 1,500,000 euros per month, and if we take into account the money managed through activities, culture, sports, or social events, we would be talking about an approximate figure of 3,000,000 euros per month,» he stated.
The mayor stressed that the city «provides better and more services» to the citizens, noting that it is the city in the province that provides the best quality of life. «We have spectacular data, if we compare ourselves with sister cities, we stand out. We have an unemployment rate below 10%, we are below the national average, Castilla-La Mancha, and the province. We are the city with the highest number of economic activities, with 3,110 activities, and we are the city that generates the most revenue in the province with 1.141 billion euros,» Martín emphasized.
He also recalled that Valdepeñas is one of the ten safest cities in Spain, according to data published by the Ministry of the Interior, and has experienced a demographic growth of 18% in the last three decades.
More public spaces
Regarding investments, the mayor specified that 15,500,000 euros have been invested in urban planning over the past two years, highlighting the creation of the square in front of UNED, Viña Lola square, and the new square in the commercial area of the north zone. «The Municipal Planning Plan has allowed Valdepeñas to expand, providing more public spaces, although some may have their criticisms, but the fact is that in these 20 years, we have multiplied by 10 the public spaces we already had in Valdepeñas,» Martín said, also mentioning the new boulevard that extends Buensuceso street, the public square that will be built in the adjacent plot, or «the slow-progressing works on the elimination of the underground bridge in the San Pedro neighborhood,» he pointed out.
More equipment
The investment in Equipment has amounted to over 6,000,000 euros in this legislature with the new SEPE office in the new Valdepeñas, the comprehensive renovation of the Bonillas Senior Center, Sustainable Urban Buses, the complete renovation of the union street labor building, the acquisition of the house adjacent to Bodegas A7 for a public park, or the storm app, among others.
On the other hand, in Social Services, the investment reaches 3,700,000 euros with the new Family Meeting Point, which facilitates compliance with the visitation regime for minors in cases of families experiencing crisis due to separation, or the incorporation of the MRI service at the Valdepeñas Hospital, among other improvements. There is also the elderly care dining service.
In the Environmental area, with an investment of over 2,000,000 euros, the launch of the canal’s river park stands out, the optimization of water management to prevent leaks in its canalization, or the creation of the second clean point in the north area of the city. In the Culture area, the designation as an Archaeological Park of the Iberian site Cerro de las Cabezas must be highlighted, and in Sports, the new athletics track, whose construction, after several issues, will be completed soon, as well as the digitization of the covered pool at Los Llanos.
In Education and Childhood, over half a million euros have been invested in various actions such as expanding the playground of the public school Lorenzo Medina, the school transportation service with over 80,000 euros of investment to assist 140 students, as well as the works of the Adult Education Center, which will be relocated to the former Manserja headquarters on Paseo de la Estación, whose works have been delayed due to the bankruptcy of the winning company. In Economic Promotion, Martín highlighted the half a million euros invested in improving the employability of unemployed people, with the Valdepeñas Employability program or employment workshops.
