The ordinary plenary session of the Valdepeñas City Council in July has approved on Monday, unanimously by all municipal groups, the motion presented by the Government team demanding that ADIF and the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility enable the full opening of the facilities and services of the Valdepeñas railway station, to ensure access for people and the comprehensive use of the station, daily and during the hours of passenger train traffic.
The Mayor of Valdepeñas, Jesús Martín, emphasized the numerous letters and agreements from the Local Government Board sent by the City Council in recent years, requesting ADIF to open the station and its services for passengers. «What motivated this motion is that the train arrived an hour and a half late, with 40ºC at the station, and passengers were unable to access services, not even having vending machines, which led to the intervention of the Local Police to assist those citizens,» Martín stressed.
The motion from the Socialist Municipal Group reflects the complaints of users and affected populations, stating that «the management is inadequate for a basic and essential public service, and does not promote passenger transport by rail.»
