The Villarrobledo City Council is the first in the region to provide municipal roofs for the installation of self-consumption panels from the Villarobledo Energy Community. Published on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 18:11 in culture and local development.
The Councilor for Local Development, Ángel Perea, along with the manager of the Mancha Júcar Centro ADI, Agustín López, have presented the current status of the Villarrobledo Energy Community, which has already been formally established through the election of its board of directors.
One of the initial decisions made was to include the Mancha Júcar-Centro Rural Development Group as a partner in the energy community and authorize it as a self-consumption manager. Likewise, the Mancha Júcar-Centro Energy Community of Villarrobledo will be part of the Rural Development Group.
The next step is to install collective self-consumption photovoltaic panels, for which the City Council has been requested to provide municipal roofs, finally granting 7 roofs for this purpose.
Perea adds that the goal is to carry out joint photovoltaic installations on these roofs to generate energy that will be distributed among all the partners of the energy community. They will benefit from this without the need to install it on their own property, resulting in significant savings both in the installation process and the final electricity bill.
Energy communities serve to address the energy vulnerability faced by rural areas, promote renewable energies, and reduce electricity costs. All of this will allow the municipality and residents to reduce expenses, enable businesses to be more competitive, opening up new opportunities, and contributing to population retention and job creation in our region.
Therefore, the Villarrobledo City Council is actively involved in creating and launching this energy community, working together with the Mancha Júcar Centro Community Transformation Office (CTO) to achieve regional development goals.
Agustín López highlights the importance of residents being informed about this project so they can join, whether as individuals, small businesses, or companies, becoming partners in this Energy Community and participating as they see fit. To contribute to the installation of the panels, it is estimated that an investment of 500 euros is required for 1 kilowatt without storage, and 800 euros with storage. It is worth noting that residents within a 2 km radius of the self-consumption panel installation can benefit from this initiative.
The ADI expresses gratitude for the municipal roof provision by the City Council, making Villarrobledo the first in the region to do so.
In conclusion, while there is a commitment from the Regional Government to activate support programs for the creation and implementation of Energy Communities, it is essential to strive for self-sufficiency and not rely solely on government assistance. Therefore, residents are encouraged to learn more about this initiative through the CTO website (www.manchajucarcentro.com/OTC/contacto). If there is interest from residents, ADI technicians will visit Villarrobledo to provide guidance on the steps to become members of the Villarrobledo Energy Community.
