Guadalajara City Council reminds the public that the PRICAM (Regional Plan for Floods in Castilla-La Mancha) remains activated in Emergency Operational Situation 1 in the province of Guadalajara and, consequently, in the city of Guadalajara, with the Henares River in Guadalajara still at a red threshold.
During yesterday and expectedly in the coming days, water discharges from the dams will continue, affecting the flow of the Henares River as it passes through Guadalajara, which reached its maximum level during the early hours of today.
- Prohibitions, restrictions, and preventive measures
This situation, along with the forecasted rainfall, advises the public to take extreme precautions until the emergency concludes, especially in the vicinity of the Henares River bank. Always follow the instructions of emergency services, Local Police, Civil Protection, and Firefighters, and adhere to the preventive measures, restrictions, and prohibitions established to date.
- Pedestrian access to the Henares River bank remains prohibited, in the areas marked by the Local Police
- The closure of parks and gardens remains in place as a preventive measure due to the risk of branches falling as a result of recent rains.
- The suspension of training sessions at the annexes of the Pedro Escartín soccer field continues due to its proximity to the riverbank.
- The underground passage of A2 on Trafalgar Street remains closed, connecting the Balconcillo Industrial Estate with the SP-12 Industrial Estate, due to water accumulation.
- Preventive measures in low-lying areas and garages of La Chopera and Manantiales, with a sewage network control system through the Guadalagua company. Here are the streets where these risks are or may be particularly significant for the removal of cars or other items from low-lying areas and garages:
- In La Chopera Area: José M. Alonso Gamo, Federico López, José de Juan, José de Castro, Marcelino Villanueva, Maestro Pinilla from Salvador Embid towards the river.
- In the Manantiales Area: Alto Rey, Sierra de Ayllón, and Altamira.
- Preventive measures in the El Balconcillo Industrial Estate area, on Lepanto, Méjico, and Trafalgar streets.
- Preventive measures in El Serranillo, Animal Shelter «La Camada,» and neighboring properties.
Although all necessary preventive and security measures are being implemented by the City Council to prevent risks, and continuous surveillance is maintained for any water discharge, rainfall, or potential flow changes of the river passing through Guadalajara, a cautionary appeal is made to the public. Avoid accessing restricted areas near the Henares River bank, always follow the instructions of emergency services, and take precautions to ensure public safety.
