On Thursday, the Posada de los Portales hosted the opening of the «Azul» exhibition, a new artistic project by the Arrakis painting collective that brings together local creators around the infinite expressive possibilities of this color. The event was attended by the Councilor for Culture, Inés Losa, who offered words full of sensitivity and recognition of the work of the artists and the transformative value of art in the life of the city.

«Dear friends, dear artists, neighbors of Tomelloso: Blue brings us together this afternoon. A blue that is not just a color, but an atmosphere, emotion, and depth,» began Losa, highlighting the symbolic and emotional richness of the color featured in the exhibition. Losa recalled that two years ago, the Arrakis collective invited the citizens to see the world through glass and transparency, and now, with «Azul,» they propose to «immerse ourselves in the infinite vibration» of this color. «Each artist in this exhibition expresses themselves from their own blue,» she said, referring to the variety of shades present in the exhibition, from sky blue to navy blue, through cobalt, ultramarine, turquoise, indigo, and petroleum.

During her speech, Inés Losa reiterated the commitment of the Tomelloso City Council, and especially of the government led by Javier Navarro, to living culture and projects that emerge from the grassroots: «We want to reaffirm our commitment to living culture, to projects that arise from below and grow with authenticity, to art that does not just decorate walls, but fills our lives with meaning.»

The councilor concluded by thanking all those who made the exhibition possible and emphasizing the importance of continuing to support initiatives like Arrakis: «Thank you for the blue. For this blue that does not fade, that stays with us a little longer.»

The head of the collective, Caroline Culubret, thanked the City Council for the facilities for setting up this exhibition and Councilors Inés Losa and Carmen López for attending the opening. She recalled that this is the second exhibition of the collective made up of 31 artists who have prepared works on the theme of this color, all presented in the same format, not of work. Culubret continued to explain that many themes and techniques are addressed, all under the history and meaning of color as the guiding thread.

The «Azul» exhibition will remain open to the public at the Posada de los Portales until Sunday, May 25th.
