The heatwave on Sunday broke a total of six records for maximum temperatures and the two highest minimum temperatures for June at various observatories of the main network of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), as stated by the state agency in a message on the social network ‘X’.
Toledo reached 42ºC, matching its record from June 2015; while Ourense recorded 41.3ºC, surpassing the 40.9ºC in June 2011. Huelva, Ronda Este, reached 40.9ºC, slightly above the 40.7ºC that was its record since June 2015.
Below 40ºC but still with a record temperature was Zamora. The city reached 39.9ºC, above the 39.8ºC it hit in June 2017. On the other hand, the thermometers at Lugo Airport reached 37.9ºC, when its previous highest temperature for June was 36.4ºC in 2011.
Finally, Reus Airport recorded 36.9ºC, surpassing the previous highest temperature of 36.8ºC in June 2012. In terms of minimum temperatures, Barcelona Airport reached 24.9ºC, matching the same record minimum it reached on Thursday the 26th. Similarly, Lugo Airport had 18ºC, exceeding the previous minimum record of 17.6ºC reached the day before, on Saturday the 28th.
