Valdepeñas capacita a 18 personas en riesgo de exclusión en habilidades digitales

Valdepeñas forms 18 people at risk of exclusion in digital skills

The area of Social Services of the Valdepeñas City Council has carried out two digital skills workshops in which 18 people have participated, with the aim of improving their skills and ensuring their digital inclusion, focusing on groups at risk of social exclusion.

The workshops have been carried out with the Technical Team for Social Inclusion (ETI), and funded by the European Social Fund+, within the 2021-2027 Program of Castilla-La Mancha, in collaboration with Digital Citizenship of Castilla-La Mancha.

In total, 18 people have participated in these two free courses of 7.5 hours duration, of which 2.5 hours have been dedicated to self-study by the student and 5 hours of face-to-face training in the classroom. Participants will receive an official certificate from the Castilla-La Mancha Regional Government, valid for competitions and job applications.

The Digital Citizenship project aims to train the citizens of Castilla-La Mancha in Digital Competences, to substantially improve their skills and ensure their digital inclusion, with a special emphasis on groups at risk of social exclusion and to reduce the digital divide by age and gender.

Once these two courses are completed, the students have been able to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to address the addictions that come with the abusive use of social networks, online shopping, and betting services, as well as the necessary skills to carry out procedures with identity documents and certificates online.

Additionally, it was detailed that with this amount in credit modifications, the improvement of lighting in Plaza Constitución, the acquisition of an asphalt compactor, the adaptation of the former SEPECAM offices in Valcentro to convert them into municipal public service offices, as well as the acquisition of computer equipment are also considered.

Furthermore, the plenary session also plans to approve the award of the contract for the renewal of the Home Care Service. «This contract has an estimated value of 3,415,333 euros, with an initial duration of 12 months, at a rate of 1,109,986 euros per year, subject to two extensions of 12 months each,» said the government spokesperson, emphasizing that «this service benefits 180 users in the city and that the provision of the service goes beyond 60,000 annual hours, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.»
