The municipal budget of Valdepeñas 2025 amounts to 36,200,000 euros. «Social accounts,» as defined by the Deputy Mayor of Finance, Vanessa Irla, who highlighted the increase in social protection and environmental protection allocations in this fiscal year.
The municipal Finance Minister detailed that, within the income section, in current operations, there is an increase of 2.99% compared to the previous year with 33,580,712 euros. Capital operations amount to 2,469,288 euros, a decrease of 24.45% compared to 2024. In the expenditure section, current operations amount to 31,756,553 euros, increasing by 1.63% mainly due to the salary increase of municipal staff. In capital operations, in this expenditure section, it amounts to 4,563,647 euros, representing a decrease of 6.65% compared to the previous year, due to capital amortization from loan cancellations. Regarding public debt, it has been emphasized that it continues its downward trend and has decreased by 4.44% compared to the previous year, standing at 23.06%.
Irla pointed out that in the approved budgets, which will come into force after their imminent publication in the Official Provincial Gazette (BOP), «more than 600,000 euros are invested, compared to what was invested in 2024, in environmental actions, and also highlight how the budget increases, compared to the previous year, by more than 1,000,000 euros in protection and social promotion actions, such as for seniors, minors, women, or employment plans.»
Investments and subsidies
Vanessa Irla emphasized the importance of having successfully approved this budget in the Plenary session and that it has not been extended, «since otherwise, chapters such as investments or subsidies for groups cannot be extended.» In this regard, she noted that the new budget includes allocations for the new fairground, storm plan, tree purchase, renovation of the roof of the Cachiporro Social Center, drafting the project for the expansion of the fair pavilion, or computerizing a classroom within the pavilion, which will allow Valdepeñas to continue offering the possibility of taking driving school exams in this municipality without having to travel to other locations.
In the chapter of transfers and subsidies, it has been specified that it amounts to more than 3,000,000 euros, which includes, among others, the contribution to the RSU, grants to groups, agreements with social entities such as Cáritas, AFAD, Proyecto Hombre, or Rincón Felino, scholarships for athletes, Municipal Sports Schools, as well as a new allocation for AMPAS.
Finally, Irla wanted to highlight the progressive reduction of municipal debt since Jesús Martín became the mayor of Valdepeñas. «Since 2003, more than 500,000,000 euros have been invested, and not only have investments been made, but also the debt has been reduced by 80%, which is an important fact, in addition to maintaining services to citizens in a budget that is eminently social,» she asserted.
