Valdepeñas will officially kick off the Carnival this Saturday, March 1st, with a program consisting of over 40 activities that will run until March 9th, focusing on children’s activities, maintaining successful events for all audiences, and extending musical performances in the tent over two weekends.
The official program, devised by the Valdepeñas City Council, will begin with the popular school carnival parade and the successful VIII Drag Gala ‘La +Queen’ of Valdepeñas in the Municipal Auditorium Theater, with tickets already sold out, presented once again by Kelly Roller and featuring the proclamation of the Redacción Marchosa group on the occasion of its 40th anniversary.
The Carnival tent will host nightly dances on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, with donations benefiting Asetitina and Hugo-AME. The tent will be the setting on Saturday night for the ‘FestParty’, a party with a tacky costume theme, including performances by the popular Yurena, La Banda del Capitán Inhumano, and DJ Javier Calvo.
The carnival tent will continue to host the popular vermouth dances with various entertainment, and on Sunday, there will be a children’s mask contest. That night, the tent will host a tribute to El Canto del Loco. On Monday afternoon, there will be vermouth dances again, a street mask contest, and the tent will welcome the Babylon orchestra.
On Tuesday the 4th, the Regional Floats and Comparsas Contest will take place, including a new local category this year, and the ‘Parrilla Ardiente’ for Doña Sardina will open, while the nighttime tent will be enlivened by DJ Beni. Ash Wednesday will see the traditional Burial of the Sardine, starting from the Inés Ibáñez Braña Auditorium and ending in Plaza de España, where the III Crying and Wailing Contest will take place, in collaboration with El Trascacho, and a popular sardinada, in collaboration with the Duelos y Quebrantos association. On Friday the 7th, the tent will host a concert by the group Monomanía Rock: Tribute to Spanish rock and DJ Luis Pájaro.
Children’s activities will once again play a prominent role this carnival. In addition to children’s mask contests, there will be a wide range of activities. On Saturday, March 8th, the Carnival tent will host a light disco for boys and girls aged 12 to 17, promoting healthy leisure for young people.
Supporting family reconciliation once again, various activities will take place at the Youth Center on the mornings of March 3rd and 4th, non-school days. Also, on those mornings, the Canal will host inflatables and games for the little ones. Finally, on Piñata Sunday, March 9th, the tent will host a children’s party for boys and girls aged 3 to 12.
