The mobilization in Toledo will take place starting at 11:00 a.m. from the Plaza de Toros, in a march that will go through the streets of the Castilla-La Mancha capital to Plaza de Zocodover.
A demonstration that will take place an hour before the scheduled gatherings in the rest of the Castilla-La Mancha territory. Thus, the mobilization will start at 12:00 p.m. in Guadalajara, Albacete, and Cuenca.
In Guadalajara, the demonstration will have the presence of the general secretary of CCOO Castilla-La Mancha, Paco de la Rosa, in what will be his last May 1st mobilization leading the trade union, and his counterpart in UGT Castilla-La Mancha, in her first attendance in the position. The march will start at Plaza de España, next to Palacio del Infantado, and will go through the streets of the capital of Alcarria until concluding at the templete of Plaza de la Concordia.
Also at 12:00 p.m., the mobilizations will take place in Albacete, from Molino de la Feria to Plaza Gabriel Lodares, and in Cuenca, where it will run from the old Railroad Station to Plaza de España.
The main call in Ciudad Real has been relocated to the municipalities of Alcázar de San Juan, where the mobilization will go from Cruz Verde street to the Railroad Station, and Puertollano, from Glorieta Virgen de Gracia to Concha de la Música.
Other cities in the region will also have mobilizations called by CCOO alone. Thus, in Talavera de la Reina, the demonstration will go from Paseo de los Arqueros to Plaza del Pan, and in Villa de Don Fadrique, from Plaza de Santa Ana to Calle Caramelos. There will also be a mobilization called in the town of Madrigueras, in the province of Albacete.
‘PROTEGER LO CONQUISTADO, GANAR FUTURO’
All mobilizations will share the national theme chosen by both trade unions, announced on April 21st, ‘Proteger lo conquistado, ganar futuro’.
During the presentation of the theme, the general secretaries of CCOO, Unai Sordo, and UGT, Pepe Álvarez, pointed out the main points of interest in the national labor field, although they acknowledged that the international situation led the call to be the one with the most «global connotations» in the last 100 years.
However, for this May 1st, both union leaders indicated that one of the priorities will be to demand that dialogues begin to reform dismissal in Spain, after the European Committee of Social Rights ruled that it is not sufficiently dissuasive following a UGT lawsuit and in the face of a new European judgment, stemming from another CCOO complaint that will «surely» determine that the cost of dismissal in Spain is low.
