El Ayuntamiento de Guadalajara premiado en el IX Concurso de Buenas Prácticas Locales contra la Violencia sobre las Mujeres

Guadalajara City Council has been awarded in the IX Contest of Good Local Practices against Violence against Women, in the category of «Assistance, help and protection to women victims of gender-based violence and their sons and daughters». This contest is organized by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

The awarded proposal, titled «Management and Operation of the shelter resource for women victims of gender-based violence and their minor children,» has been recognized for its effectiveness, innovative nature, and possibilities for application in other contexts.

This is a municipal resource to assist women victims of gender-based violence, with 11 spots, 5 of them for emergency cases, with a team of social workers, psychologists, and a coordinator, providing 24-hour attention to women referred from the regional service.

The Mayor of Guadalajara, Ana Guarinos, has expressed her satisfaction with this recognition, highlighting the «extraordinary and intense daily work carried out by the Equality Council,» led by Councilman Roberto Narro. «This award is a recognition of the effort and dedication of the entire team working in this area,» Guarinos stated.

The award ceremony will take place next Monday, March 24, at 12 noon, at the headquarters of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces in Madrid. The event will be attended by the Mayor of Guadalajara, Ana Guarinos, and the Councilman of Equality, Roberto Narro.

Corresponsables Plan and Day of Co-Responsibility

The announcement of this award was made during the visit that the Mayor and the Councilman of Equality made this morning to the Corresponsables Classroom, a resource of the Corresponsables Plan, funded by the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha and managed by Guadalajara City Council.

They have recalled that Guadalajara closed the year 2024 with an execution rate of 97.9%. «This plan reflects the commitment of the municipal government to reconciliation and co-responsibility,» highlighting that in 2022 only 13.2% of the plan was executed, while in 2024 almost 100% execution was achieved, despite receiving 29.2% less in subsidies.

Among the programs of the Corresponsables Plan are ‘No School at the Farm’, ‘No School in the Neighborhoods’, ‘No School at the Zoo’ and the Corresponsable Classroom. «There has been a 62.9% increase in Corresponsables Plan users in 2024 compared to 2023, with 4,026 minors attended,» Narro emphasized.

The councilman also highlighted the improvement of the Corresponsables Classroom, which since January 13, 2025, has been relocated to the Los Valles Social Center, offering a larger and more suitable space for activities, «moving from the existing location on Travesía de Santo Domingo to the Los Valles Social Center, with an open space, with great light input and even a garden to also carry out outdoor activities, which represents a growth in service quality for minors in two groups, from 0 to 3 years old and from 4 to 16. More professional service, of higher quality, and with more specific activities.»

Large families, single mothers, victims of gender-based violence, refugees, and those in vulnerable situations have priority access to these services, reaffirming Guadalajara City Council’s commitment to equality and co-responsibility.
