El Trail ‘Entrevolcanes’ asegura continuidad con respaldo del Gobierno regional

The second vice president, José Manuel Caballero, has shown the support of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha for the celebration of the ‘Entrevolcanes’ Trail that took place today between the towns of Alcolea de Calatrava, Corral de Calatrava, and Piedrabuena, bringing together 500 runners.

«From the Government of President García-Page, we assure with commitment and conviction that this event has been able to take place, guaranteeing economic and logistical support,» he stated.

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has ensured the continuity of this sports event, which takes place in the surroundings of the ‘Volcanoes of Calatrava’ Geopark, «after the withdrawal of support from the Diputación de Ciudad Real, which promoted this activity in 2022,» the regional government reported in a press release.

Furthermore, this event is part of the ‘trail running center’, a program for the permanent marking of circuits by the Spanish Athletics Federation, where this is the only authorized venue in the region.

For this reason, the mayor of Alcolea de Calatrava, Eduardo Plaza, thanked the regional government for supporting this event that revitalizes the municipality and highlights the natural environment of the area.

From the starting point of this sports event, José Manuel Caballero recalled that «this is an event that, in addition to being sports-related, greatly values rural areas and, in particular, the potential of a territory like the geopark of the province and, specifically, the volcanoes of Campo de Calatrava in Alcolea de Calatrava, Corral de Calatrava, and also in Piedrabuena.»

REGIONAL COMMITMENT

For this reason, he reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha to supporting sports activities as drivers of rural areas and small municipalities in the region.

The second vice president emphasized that the regional government promotes and supports events like this ‘Entrevolcanes’ Trail, «where there is a combination of possibilities to showcase small towns and for almost 500 runners to have the opportunity to enjoy our natural environment and heritage today.»

Caballero and Plaza were accompanied by the event organizer, Agustín Luján, and were able to greet some participants who registered for the four modalities that came together today in this sports event, which also includes mountain biking and hiking.

This event is also the Castilla-La Mancha trail championship. The TRC-018 ‘Entrevolcanes’ has three itineraries of progressive difficulty. The routes allow for ‘trail running’ through natural spaces linked to the volcanism of Campo de Calatrava that shaped the landscape with volcanoes and maars and are part of the Geopark.
