Valdepeñas will celebrate Pride 2025 on Saturday, June 21, aiming to promote tolerance and equality for the LGTBI+ community through a diversity party. The event will take place in Plaza de España starting at 10:00 pm, featuring a performance by Jorge González, the finalist of Benidorm Fest 2024, the drag show by Alma Desoul and drag Amira, who will be in charge of hosting the event and playing danceable tunes until the early hours.
During the presentation of this event, organized by the local government, Inmaculada Pacheco, the Councilor for Equality, mentioned that there will be additional activities to promote tolerance leading up to June.
«This celebration is not only part of weeks like this, where May 17 is the day against LGTBI-phobia or June 28 is LGTBI+ Pride Day, but it is a policy that we work on every day of the year,» stated Pacheco, emphasizing the commitment to the Pride and related activities.
Pacheco also announced that there will be a manifesto reading during the event, to be delivered by the local artist Senipaifos, an LGTBI+ rights activist named Hija Predilecta de Castilla-La Mancha in 2023. Additionally, Plaza Constitución will host various food trucks from the Food Trucks La Mancha Association over the weekend.
The Councilor also highlighted other initiatives by the local government, such as an LGTBI guide created by the council, as well as talks and diversity murals in the streets of Valdepeñas.
Jorge González, Alma, and Amira
As for the main event on June 21, artist Jorge González will join the diversity party organized by the Valdepeñas City Council for the third consecutive year. Previous editions have been successful with renowned artists like Melody and Soraya Arnelas, attracting thousands of attendees.
The popular singer will deliver a rhythmic performance with his team of dancers, showcasing the song ‘Caliente’ from Benidorm Fest 2024, along with renditions of hits by artists like Ricky Martin.
González was a favorite at the Benidorm song festival with ‘Caliente’, which gained popularity among the audience. His vocals and choreography were praised, as previously demonstrated on ‘Tu cara me suena’, where he won the competition.
Aside from his musical achievements, González has also appeared on shows like ‘La Voz’ and ‘Operación Triunfo’ in 2006, as well as vying to represent Spain in Eurovision 2009 and starring in the musical ‘La jaula de las locas’.
Moreover, Pride 2025 in Valdepeñas will feature artist Alma Desoul, a three-time winner of the Gala Drag Queen in Valdepeñas and recipient of top prizes at drag galas in Málaga, Mérida, Torremolinos, and Benalmádena, among others.
Furthermore, Amira will host the event and serve as the DJ, keeping the party alive until the early hours with her vibrant music selection. Her experience includes performances at significant LGTBI+ events like Sissypop, Mariquita Fest, Baila Cariño, and Marta Cariño.
