The Local Government Board has today given the green light to the approval of the Motorhome Area’s memorandum, which aims to meet a historical demand and lack, making it one of the most important cities in the province that did not have this service.
Tomelloso, located between communication routes such as the A-43 highway (Guadiana Highway) and CM-42 (Viñedos Highway) that connects to the A4 (Southern Highway), and with its strategic location in the center of La Mancha, becomes a strategic location to establish an area with these services, which will have a significant impact on the local economy due to being a growing sector and the proximity of the Natural Park of the Lagunas de Ruidera and the National Park of the Tablas de Daimiel, among other important tourist resources in the area.
The project, which has been a personal commitment of the mayor, Javier Navarro Muelas, will involve an investment of €225,000. It is an area for parking and recharging motorhomes with charging and connection points and cycling routes. It is located in Sector-2 of Juan Carlos I Avenue, an expanding area of the city with numerous services and offerings, as well as well connected to the rest of the town’s resources. An urbanized, modern, and highly frequented environment. Within a short distance are several large supermarkets, a sports specialty store, an educational center, dining and leisure venues, pharmacies, and a gas station, among others. Additionally, it is located right in front of Embajadores Park, enhancing its value as a strategic point for rest and transit.
An accessible location, well connected and equipped with all services, designed to offer a comfortable and complete experience to those who visit us in a motorhome.
A tourism of the future that will allow continued growth
The creation of a motorhome area in Tomelloso aims to promote sustainable and proximity tourism in the locality, offering a suitable and safe space for motorhome travelers, with the necessary services for temporary parking and overnight stays. This area will contribute to the local economic development, revitalizing its economy by attracting visitors who will consume products and services in the area, especially in sectors such as hospitality, commerce, and tourist activities.
The investment will not only expand Tomelloso’s tourist capacity in a growing tourism sector every year but this innovative facility will help alleviate overcrowded areas not designated for motorhome parking, improving coexistence between residents and visitors. It is intended for the area to be equipped with basic infrastructure such as potable water supply points, wastewater disposal, charging points, rest areas, and green spaces, integrating harmoniously into the urban environment while maintaining a green area to enhance comfort in a user-friendly space.
The lack of a service area means that this type of tourism did not reach Tomelloso, or that parking or overnight stays occurred in unsuitable places lacking basic services, creating coexistence problems and relationships with other users.
This project is funded by European funds from the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (RTRP) – Next Generation EU, through the Tourist Sustainability Plans in Destination (TSPD) funded by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism and the Castilla-La Mancha Regional Government, with an investment of €225,096.00. The execution period is 7 months.
