The exports of Castilla-La Mancha in March 2025 reached 2,759.4 million euros, an increase of 11.6% compared to March 2024. In Spain, exports rose by 2.6% to reach 95,873.4 million euros.
This information comes from the latest report prepared by the Territorial Directorate of Trade-ICEX in Castilla-La Mancha, with data provided by the Customs Department of the AEAT to the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business.
By provinces, in March of this year, Toledo took the lead with 802.4 million euros in exports (16.2% increase), followed by Guadalajara with 729.9 million euros (16.4% increase), Ciudad Real with 570.8 million euros (2.2% decrease), Albacete with 418.9 million euros (13.1% increase), and Cuenca with 237.4 million euros, showing an 18.8% increase in exports.
On the other hand, imports in the region reached 4,382.7 million euros, a 7.6% increase, while in Spain, imports rose by 9.3% to 110,973.0 million euros.
Among importing provinces, Guadalajara ranked first with a 1.2% increase, followed by Toledo (25.0% increase), Albacete (16.8% increase), Ciudad Real (6.9% decrease), and Cuenca (29.1% decrease).
The trade balance of the region in March 2025 stood at -1,623.3 million euros, with a coverage rate (Xs/Ms) of 62.9%, significantly lower than the national average of 86.3%.
EXPORTING SECTORS
In March 2025, Agri-food products ranked first in regional exports with 959.8 million euros, accounting for 34.8% of the total exported by Castilla-La Mancha and showing a 9.2% increase compared to March 2024.
Beverages led the sector with 271.4 million euros, with a 0.6% increase in sales. The Meat sector ranked second with 200.3 million euros, showing an 18.2% increase.
Fruits, vegetables, and legumes increased by 14.4% (165.8 million euros). However, exports of oils and fats decreased by 13.9% (92.0 million euros). Additionally, Capital Goods stood at 645.0 million euros with a 2.1% decrease, while Consumer Goods (17.3%) and Chemical Products (17.1%) ranked third and fourth with 337.1 and 266.3 million euros, respectively.
During this period, Non-chemical Semi-finished products increased by 1.1%, reaching 263.0 million euros.
In terms of importing sectors, Capital Goods stood out with 1,248.6 million euros, showing a 16.4% decrease, with office and telecommunications equipment at 161.2 million euros (2.2% decrease).
The second largest importing sector was Chemical Products with 905.4 million euros (40.7% increase), while Food, beverages, and tobacco ranked third with a value of 727.0 million euros, representing a 19.9% increase this month.
DESTINATION COUNTRIES
In March 2025, the EU accounted for the majority of Castilla-La Mancha’s exports, representing 75.5% of the total. Within the Eurozone, Portugal was the region’s main customer with 631.3 million euros (14.0% increase), followed by France with 442.7 million euros (3.9% increase), Italy with 290.9 million euros (1.9% decrease), and Germany with 290.5 million euros (1.9% increase).
Outside the EU, exports to the United Kingdom amounted to 92.7 million euros (1.2% decrease), to Turkey 48.3 million euros (33.0% increase), and to Russia 1.9 million euros (50.7% decrease).
Beyond the closest regional environment, exports to the United States were 83.5 million euros (3.5% decrease), to Canada 6.2 million euros (23.0% decrease), to Mexico 18.5 million euros (10.6% increase), to Chile 8.1 million euros (9.6% decrease), to Brazil 5.7 million euros (22.3% increase), and to Argentina 2.4 million euros (22.5% increase).
Additionally, exports to Morocco were 42.8 million euros (13.4% increase), to Algeria 14.8 million euros (7,057.7% increase), and to the Middle East 33.8 million euros (8.6% increase). In Asia, China stood out with 86.0 million euros, experiencing a growth of 182.6%, while Japan (30.7 million euros, 14.5% decrease) and South Korea (21.8 million euros, 30.7% increase) were also notable.
Regarding imports, 71.5% originated from within the EU, with France and Germany being the main sources. Outside the EU, China was the primary non-EU regional supplier, accounting for 437.3 million euros, a 43.1% increase compared to March 2024.
