Martín aboga por corregir la educación heredada para evitar la desigualdad de la mujer

Valdepeñas has commemorated International Women’s Day this Friday, with a commemorative event in Plaza de España organized by the Valdepeñas City Council, through the Local Women’s Council, with the aim of highlighting the role of women in society under the theme ‘Building Equality: The future you want starts with you’, featuring Rosae and Feceval, as well as the collaboration of writer Trini Moreno.

During the event, Valdepeñas Mayor Jesús Martín remarked on this day of commemoration that «society still has a long way to go in terms of gender equality,» citing data from the Women’s Institute that states that 65% of young people under 25 see feminism as an attack. «This puts them on the wrong side, against instead of with,» the mayor pointed out, emphasizing that «these demonstrations are not against or in opposition to men, but for and towards equality. Those who do not understand that this is for and towards equality, and to counteract years of misunderstood education, we must try to convince them to stand on this side of the counter.»

He invited everyone to «not assume the mistakes of our elders,» in order to continue overcoming «an inherited poor education, to triumph through equality and commitment to make a better society.»

On her part, Equality Councilor Inmaculada Pacheco highlighted that «this is about justice and social equality between both genders, in pursuit of societal improvement.» She also noted that «not everything has been achieved,» referring to social inequalities such as employment, pointing out that «even though unemployment has decreased in Valdepeñas, two-thirds are still women.»
