Stockalia is back with a new edition, the trade fair organized by the Business Association of the Tomelloso Region in collaboration with the City Council. The event opened its doors on Friday with great enthusiasm, the new fairground on the horizon, and promising sales prospects. A large number of eager visitors entered the City Sports Pavilion after the ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

The Mayor, Javier Navarro, attended the event accompanied by a good representation of his government team, showing his support and admiration for the commercial sector. He acknowledged the daily effort made by businesses to bring life and economic activity, especially in challenging situations. The Mayor highlighted the burden of over 100 taxes imposed by the Spanish government, the water charge levied by the Regional Council on merchants, and the increase in waste disposal fees mandated by socialist municipalities in the area. Navarro emphasized, «It’s a complex situation that makes it harder for those trying to create wealth and sustain the population.»

Navarro congratulated Enrique Sánchez and his board of directors, along with the City Councils of Tomelloso and Argamasilla, for the fruitful collaboration. He mentioned plans to redirect European fund applications to help Tomelloso acquire a much-needed fairground, included in the Comprehensive Action Plan for Tomelloso submitted for a new European call. Despite challenges from other administrations, Navarro confirmed the availability of 9,000 m² to cater to entrepreneurs and traders, stressing the town’s necessity for this facility. He expressed hope for a €4 million grant in this round, mentioning the fairground’s location adjacent to the City Sports Pavilion with access to the future Niort Avenue, connecting currently isolated main roads.

The opening ceremony also saw the presence of Argamasilla de Alba councilors Clara Hilario and Yared Sánchez, whom the business association’s president thanked. Enrique Sánchez expressed his excitement for the new Stockalia edition, promising significant discounts, quality products, and the professional and friendly service of local businesses to benefit the public. Given the sector’s current challenges, he appealed for understanding and support, emphasizing the shared responsibility to prevent these stores from disappearing. Sánchez appreciated the City Council’s support in providing the pavilion and their ongoing efforts to host future events at the new fairground.

Businesses from various sectors will showcase their products throughout the weekend, with opening hours from 10 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm on Saturday, and 11 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm on Sunday. Over 40 exhibitors from Tomelloso, Argamasilla, Socuéllamos, Tembleque, Talavera de la Reina, Córdoba, Villatobas, Villarta de San Juan, and Miguelturra have filled the more than 90 available stands.
