Conferencia sobre el papel de la mujer en la gesta histórica inaugura conmemoración del 6 de Junio

Valdepeñas has started the programming of the commemorative events of June 6th with the conference ‘Ellas, a feminine reading of the Liberal Revolution’, which took place at the Municipal Museum by Eva María Jesús Morales, from the Historical-Cultural Association 6 de Junio de 1808.

The deputy mayor of Culture, Vanessa Irla, highlighted the work of the Historical-Cultural Association 6 de Junio «to recover our memory and history» and emphasized the role of women in this feat. «History is, eminently, masculine. But the role of women in history was very important and relegated to the domestic sphere,» Irla lamented, noting that during that time «women had a fundamental role, as they did on June 6th, as is the case of Juana Galán ‘La Galana’, but there were more, who had an important role and making them visible today, as a prelude to that commemoration of June 6th, is important.»

Eva María Jesús Morales explained that the conference is a feminine reading of the Liberal Revolution, in which the War of Independence is included and in which women stand out. «It is true that there is a coincidence regarding the heroization of the female figure in the 19th century, so the role of Juana La Galán is important, although there are others,» Morales pointed out, emphasizing «the role of women in real events in the hidden life of everyday life, but above all raising the gaze from the ordinary to the extraordinary because they truly were,» she said.
