Castilla-La Mancha Government celebrates that Ciudad Real will host the National Irrigators Congress next year, taking place from April 13 to 18

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development, Julián Martínez Lizán, has positively assessed the celebration of this congress due to the significant contributions we can make, given that despite having 5.5 percent less irrigation than the national average, we have ten percent more maximum efficiency.»

The Minister of Sustainable Development, Mercedes Gómez, has highlighted the opportunity for this congress to be held in Ciudad Real «because the fourth planning cycle of the hydrographic confederations for 2027 must be approved, and everything that can be seen and discussed will be crucial for Spanish irrigators and administrations.»

Toledo, March 25, 2025.- The Castilla-La Mancha Government has expressed its satisfaction because Ciudad Real will host the National Irrigators Congress next year, scheduled to take place from April 13 to 18.

This was announced following a meeting between the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, and the Organizing Committee of this congress led by the President of the National Federation of Irrigator Communities of Spain (FENACORE), Juan Valero de Palma, and the President of CUAS Mancha Occidental II, José Joaquín Gómez. Also in attendance were the Minister of Sustainable Development, Mercedes Gómez, and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development, Julián Martínez Lizán.

At the end of the meeting, held at the regional government headquarters, both ministers positively assessed this news. «We highly value the celebration of this Congress for the significant contributions we can make, as despite having 5.5 percent less irrigation than the national average, we have ten percent more maximum efficiency,» said the Minister of Agriculture, reflecting «the concern of the Emiliano García-Page Government that is committed to the evolution needed for the transition towards modernization and the creation of more irrigated lands in our region.»

In this regard, Martínez Lizán pointed out that «this congress is a unique opportunity to discuss what we do, but also the future of irrigation with the application of new technologies. Therefore, we hope it will be well-received and serve for the benefit of all participants.»

Similarly, the Minister of Sustainable Development, Mercedes Gómez, expressed the satisfaction of the regional Government because FENACORE, through the irrigators of Mancha Occidental II, has decided that our region will host the celebration of their next national Congress in 2026, focusing on groundwater and predicting that it «will be a success.»

«It is important to consider that this is a very special characteristic of Castilla-La Mancha in general, and the Alto Guadiana in particular. It is a very opportune moment as the fourth planning cycle of the hydrographic confederations for 2027 must be approved, and everything that can be seen and discussed will be crucial for Spanish irrigators and administrations. Therefore, it will be very interesting to carry out precisely here, in Castilla-La Mancha,» pointed out Gómez.

The Irrigator Community of Mancha Occidental II will be the organizing entity of this congress, to be held in Ciudad Real next year from April 13 to 18, 2026. It will bring together irrigator communities, hydrographic confederations, autonomous communities, as well as the other entities in this sector to discuss the most current topics in the sector.
