The ordinary Plenary of Valdepeñas has approved this Monday, in the session corresponding to the month of June, the creation of a second Clean Point in Valdepeñas and the installation of a solar energy system for the municipal indoor swimming pool, through a grant of around 646,000 euros from European funds, which has been awarded to the projects developed by the City Council.
The Mayor of Valdepeñas, Jesús Martín, has explained that these points, which have been brought in urgently, «are two grants that have been awarded to the City Council of Valdepeñas that come from the fund that the State must return to Europe. Fund that has been created from administrations that were beneficiaries of grants and have not been able to execute them, so they have had to return them, and before returning that money to Europe, an urgent call has been made to which we have applied.»
In this sense, the municipal mayor has pointed out that the first project consists of «the creation of the second Clean Point in Valdepeñas, in the northern area of the city to generate a greater service and proximity.» The measure was approved by an absolute majority, with the votes in favor of all councilors, except for the abstention of two PP councilors.
On the other hand, through the same funds, the City Council has obtained a grant of 146,000 euros for the installation of a solar energy system for the municipal indoor swimming pool, which will allow energy savings and less pollution than with the usual system. This point was approved unanimously by all groups.
Home Care
Furthermore, the plenary session has also given the green light to the award of the contract for the renewal of the Home Care service with a value of 3,415,333 euros, for three years, in order to provide service to 180 users with around 60,000 annual hours, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The measure was approved with the votes in favor of the PSOE, the abstention of the PP, Vox, and the non-affiliated councilor, and the vote against by Unidas por Valdepeñas. The point was defended by the Government spokesperson, Francisco Delgado, who highlighted the effort of the City Council to maintain this service throughout these last legislatures. «In economically weak periods, in which this administration has endured the real estate crisis and the lack of economic resources, none of the social services saw a decrease in investment capacity by this administration, especially Home Care, which has been maintained uninterruptedly, with more or less external resource contribution, but certainly always with the financing, support, and concern of this Government team.»
The ordinary Plenary of June also included in its agenda the modification of credits worth 187,000 euros, as a whole, to carry out various actions such as an investment of 87,000 euros in the Valcentro municipal market, aimed at maintenance and conservation. It also includes the improvement of lighting in Plaza Constitución, the acquisition of a compact asphalt compactor, the adaptation of the former SEPECAM offices in Valcentro to convert them into municipal public service offices, as well as the acquisition of computer equipment.
It is also worth noting the approval of the II Childhood and Adolescence Plan of Valdepeñas, which had the favorable vote of the PSOE, PP, Unidas por Valdepeñas, and the negative vote of Vox and the abstention of the non-affiliated councilor.
