Martín propone la Medalla de Oro de la Ciudad para la Agrupación de Hermandades y Cofradías

The Mayor of Valdepeñas has attended the grand proclamation of Holy Week, where he has announced that efforts are still being made to have Holy Week declared a Festival of Tourist Interest.

The mayor of Valdepeñas, Jesús Martín, attended the Grand Proclamation of Holy Week at the Municipal Theater Auditorium on Saturday, where he highlighted the work carried out throughout the year by the city’s brotherhoods and fraternities.

Therefore, the mayor announced, «We are working from the City Hall to promote our Holy Week, and that is why we have approached the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real to make it a Unique Festival of Tourist Interest in the province of Ciudad Real.» In addition, Martín has announced that «from the Government team, we will propose a recognition during the September festivities to the brotherhoods, through their association, so that they all receive recognition with the Gold Medal of the city.»

On the other hand, he pointed out that the City Council continues to work with the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha to have it also considered a regional tourist attraction.

The grand proclamation of Holy Week in Valdepeñas was given this year by the Valdepeñas priest Raúl López Hinarejos, currently practicing his priestly ministry in Ciudad Real.
