Valdepeñas celebrates its Semana Santa with great anticipation for tourism data. High hotel occupancy is expected during these days, reaching close to 100% in previous years, with most visitors coming from Valencia, the Basque Country, or Madrid, based on past overnight stays during the same dates.
This estimate comes from the Valdepeñas Tourist Office, which has seen an increase in tourism figures during Semana Santa since 2022. On average, 210 tourists have visited the office during this festive period, seeking information. The local museums have also experienced an increase in visitors, such as the Municipal Museum, with an average of 200 visitors, and the Archaeological Park Cerro de las Cabezas, with 125 visitors on average during Semana Santa.
«These festive days of Semana Santa are a draw for visitors, as well as Valdepeñas’ heritage with its museums and wine offerings, which are increasingly in demand,» stated Vanessa Irla, Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism. She added that this makes Valdepeñas an attractive destination for tourism, reinforced by its gastronomy and wide range of dining and hotel establishments.
Additionally, the local Motorhome Parking is expected to have full occupancy at 100%, a level of activity similar to many weekends due to high demand from users who praise the facilities and services provided. The area can accommodate 40 caravans and is equipped with running water, electricity, and a play area for children.
Furthermore, these facilities have been included in the guide of motorhome parking areas in Spain and Europe, making it the closest motorhome parking between Jaén and Aranjuez to the A4.
